Under the general direction of the Personnel Supervisor II, the Training Specialist serves as staff specialist in a lead role to Personnel Specialists, providing one-on-one training of new staff and serves as a resource to the Personnel Specialist. The Training Specialist acts as the expert staff resource responsible for independently researching critical personnel problems and recommending alternative solutions within the Payroll Services Group (PSG). Duties may also include, but are not limited to, working in a team environment as coordinator for a variety of statewide personnel/payroll programs. The Senior Specialist works independently to review, advise, and make decisions on varied and complex personnel transactions. Additionally, the Senior Specialist acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and may lead complex special projects related to payroll and benefit services. Resource laws, rules and policies, State Controller's Office (SCO) automated payroll system and California Leave Accounting System. Position exists at 751 N Street
