Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic HIM Director to lead and optimize the Health Information Management operations within our facility. This role involves strategic oversight of daily operations, ensuring efficient workflow processes, and maintaining compliance with applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate facility-based HIM operations, including record management, unbilled account resolution, and staff supervision.
• Support the Regional HIM Director in implementing operational plans, service level agreements, and budget management.
• Oversee the activities related to HIM Shared Services, including FTE management, productivity monitoring, and release of information management.
• Facilitate communication among HIM personnel, facility departments, and medical staff, serving as a primary contact for HIM implementation projects.
• Direct facility-specific activities such as record pick-up, trauma registry, and processing of birth certificate documentation.
• Lead efforts in managing unbilled activities, including physician queries and monitoring unbilled reports.
• Ensure successful implementation and ongoing support of Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) systems.
• Maintain oversight of all HIM workflow queues, adhering to established guidelines and schedules.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field is required.
• A minimum of 3 years of HIM Director experience in a large hospital setting is required.
• RHIA or RHIT certification is strongly preferred.
• Proven recent experience as a Director of HIM in a large hospital, with at least 474 beds, is essential.
